The Jade Seafood Restaurant

I have to agree that The Jade Seafood Restaurant deserves every bit of the award as the diners' choice best dim sum restaurant. I was there last week with about 5 other friends. We were recommended the mushroom dumplings, crab dumplings, baked mushroom tarts, prawn rolls with preserved egg and ginger, portuguese egg tarts and the blueberry cream balls. They were all excellent and in my opinion better than the dim sum I had in some of the top-notch restaurants in Hong Kong. I would go back there again and again.

I was invited to The Jade last week for a Alaskan King Crad dinner. Aside from the wonderful King Crab dishes cooked in two different ways is the braised and grilled short rib cooked with a special mushroom sauce which I have to say is the best short rib I have ever had. It was tasty, tender and juicy. If you are a short rib lover you have to try it. The service, quality of food and ambience are just great. Price is very reasonable for what is served.

I read that the head chef of the Jade Seafood Restaurant has won The Chef of the Year award on Monday in a cooking competition and so I went there last night for a dinner to give it a try. The manager told me that I could order one of the winning dishes, slices of geoduck sauteed with egg white. Out of curiosity I ordered the dish and it was wonderful. It may not sound like a difficult dish to cook but I do know that slices of geoduck can get tough quickly if it was not well controlled. The slices of geoduck turned out to be tender with a slight bit of crunchiness and the egg white was smooth and flaky. Amazing! It definitly is a winning dish.
